What's included
Your instructor will show you the aeroplane and explain briefly how it works. You will be helped to put on any necessary protective equipment and shown how to get into the aircraft. Once you are securely strapped in the aircraft, the instructor will join you and give you a safety briefing. Then after safety checks and taxying to the runway, you will be flown to about 2500 feet above the Essex countryside where you will be able to experience the sensations of flying a microlight and will be offered the chance to operate the controls yourself under the instructor’s supervision. By the end of the lesson, many people find they are able (with help from the instructor) to climb and descend, and to turn it to fly where they choose. You will then fly back to the airfield and your instructor will land the aircraft and taxi it back to the starting point. Many interesting aircraft operate from North Weald. Although we cannot guarantee it, you may be lucky enough to be able to see a WW2 fighter or an ex-RAF jet during your lesson. While you are at the airfield you may wish take the opportunity to visit the airfield café (from which you can watch all the flying activities) or the airfield museum.
